Friars at the “Walk for Life” in San Francisco

The Friars gather at the rally before the “Walk for Life” in San Francisco, Jan 21, 2017 and listen to several talks, including Tim Tebow’s Mother, Pam. Pam shared that the pregnancy with Tim was a “problem pregnancy”. The family was living as missionaries in the Philippines at the time. Her husband Bob was mourning over the number of abortions in the world during prayer, and promised God that if He gave him another son, he’d raise him to be an Evangelist. Pam became pregnant, but before anyone new she was pregnant, the doctors were treating her for an illness with a drug that was known to be harmful to the child in the womb.  After the mistake was recognized, the doctors told Pam that she would need to have an abortion to save her life, and even if the child were born, the child would have complications and may not survive. Pam and the family chose to put their trust in God. Pam spent two months in the hospital during the pregnancy, but finally, Tim was born. The doctor who delivered Tim, said that only a small part of the placenta was attached to the child, and that it was a miracle the child was alive. Although alive, Tim was malnourished and week, but as we now know, that was only a short-term problem!  Tim went on to win the Heisman Trophy in College, but is most famous for putting Jn 3:16 on his eye black paint athletes often wear just below their eyes to cut down on the sun’s glare. In 2009, Tim led the University of Florida to the BCS National Championship. Because of his Jn 3:16 Eye Black, over 90 million people searched Jn 3:16 on the internet just after the Game!  Tim’s father’s promise to God that he’d raise Tim to be an Evangelist became fulfilled. But that is not all!  As a professional in the NFL, rules would not allow Tim to put Jn 3:16 on his Eye Black. So, God just had to do it through Tim!  The playoff game between the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburg Steelers in 2012 has become known as “The 3:16 game”. In that game…

I quote from Wikipedia:

Denver lost their last 3 games by an average of 16 points leading up to the 3:16 game. After the game, media sources noted Tebow’s passing yards (316), yards per completion (31.6), and yards per carry (3.16) evoked the Bible’s John 3:16. The only interception of the game was thrown by Ben Roethlisberger on 3rd down and 16. Pittsburgh’s time of possession was 31 minutes 6 seconds. The Nielsen ratings for the game also peaked at 31.6. John 3:16 was the top search item on Google the next morning.

After this game, there were over 98 million internet searches of Jn 3:16!  Read more about the game at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_3:16_game
