Friar Angel Garcia was ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, March 25, 2023, the Solemnity of the Annunciation, by our confrere, Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv., Bishop of the Diocese of Lexington, KY. The ordination was held in St. Paul Parish, San Pablo, CA where Friar Angel served his apostolic year and part of his diaconate experience. Friar Angel is a native of El Salvador and has family in El Salvador and Los Angeles, CA. His mother and a sister, who is a Religious Sister, were able to come from El Salvador for the ordination. His family from Los Angeles drove up for the occasion. California has been having an unusually rainy season, but Saturday was clear and sunny.
The parish church was filled with Friars from the Province, the student community from San Antonio, TX, where Friar Angel did his theological studies, the novitiate community from Arroyo Grande, CA, and hundreds of parishioners representing the various groups active within the parish. Following the ordination, a reception was held in the parish hall. Friar Angel will remain at St. Paul Parish assisting our three Friars who are currently ministering at the parish.
