The FRIENDS OF FRANCIS came into existence when a number of parishioners, from our parishes, asked how they could financially assist the Friars of the Province on a monthly basis in sponsoring students preparing for future ministry as friar priests and brothers. The Conventual Franciscans of Saint Joseph of Cupertino Province began an exciting new venture in 1999 with the establishment of the Province's Development Office. The FRIENDS OF FRANCIS became the original contacts for the new Development Office.
Over the years, the number of FRIENDS OF FRANCIS has increased and the scope of their monthly financial assistance has expanded. They assist the friars in these particular areas: the cost of formation for student friars preparing for future ministry within the Church, the cost of health care and retirement for senior friars, the cost of day-to-day financial operation of the province, and the cost of maintaining the Province's Mission in Vietnam.
