The Lunar New Year of 2023 is coming in Vietnam and some Asian Countries. During this time, the Vietnamese usually offer their gratitude to the members of the family, especially to parents, and to benefactors who are often beside them when they are in need. This is one of the good cultural traditions of the Vietnamese. With this traditional meaning, the Provincial Custody of Saint Francis Anthony Fasani in Vietnam invited parents of the friars and postulants, together with the benefactors of the Custody to come for a Thanksgiving Mass on January 7.
The Thanksgiving Mass was presided over by father Joseph Long Van Tran, Provincial Custos, with the concelebrants of the friars and over 220 participants. The Mass was taken place at the soccer field in front of the Postulancy house which was covered by a big parasol outdoor umbrella. After the Mass, the friars and postulants set the tables at the same place and served the guests lunch. During lunch, the postulants performed some dances, and the friars sang some songs with the guests. The student friars organized a Bingo Game to find lucky numbers to give special gifts to lucky persons. At the end of the party, every guest received a simple grateful gift from the Custody. The end of the lunar year is a good opportunity for the friars and postulants to welcome their parents and the Custody’s benefactors to come to the Custody Curia.
Thank you to Friar Giu-se Nguyễn Chính Luận, OFM Conv. for sharing this write-up and photos.
