It is the season of Advent, a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of Our Lord’s birth on Christmas. Like Mary between the time of the Annunciation and Birth, we take time to nourish the presence of God inside us, so that it grows, so we too may give birth to Christ, in our families, places of work, friends, and to those in need.
ADVENT WEEK 1
As we gather around the Advent Wreath to light the first candle we ask God to bless us as we seek to bring the light of Christ to all we know. HOPE is the theme for the first week of Advent.
Dear Jesus, you are the hope in our messy world. This Advent, help us slow down, listen to your voice, and focus on what’s really important. We place our hope in you as we prepare our hearts to celebrate your birth on Christmas. Amen.
