California Institution for Men (CIM) participated in the Get on the Bus event offered this spring. The California Men’s Colony (CMC) had 20 incarcerated persons and 70 family members participate in the event. Transportation was provided for the family members and included a family photo, lunch, and fun family activities. Each child also reviewed a new backpack, school supplies, and a teddy bear after each visit.
For 16 years, Fr. John Farao, OFM CONV. has helped CMC inmates with the Get On The Bus program. Fr. John also serves as Prison Chaplain at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obisbo, CA.
Get on the Bus is an annual event that provides transportation to and from California Men’s Colony, as well as meals, gifts, and photographs, free of charge. The program allows children and caregivers to visit their incarcerated loved ones. More information about Get on the Bus
