Mass on the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels at Portiuncula and the Rite of Investiture
On Friday, August 2, 2024, the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels at Portiuncula, a Mass was celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Friary, Dak Drot. During the Mass, four brothers who had completed their Postulancy began their canonical year of Novitiate with the Rite of Entrance into the Novitiate and reception of the habit.
Friar Joseph Tran Van Long, Custos of Viet Nam Custody, was the main celebrant, assisted by Father Dariusz Mazurek, the General Delegate for the General Secretariat for Mission Animation (SGAM), and friar priests and brothers from other friaries and guests of the friars. During his homily, Friar Joseph explained the meaning of the Novitiate year. Following the homily, the new novices were invested in the habit and welcomed by all the friars with fraternal embrace.
After the Mass, all those present shared fraternity celebrating the continued grace of 20 years of our Conventual presence in Vietnam and welcoming the new Novices. The Franciscan Conventual Friars have been striving to live in fraternity and humility by following in the footsteps of our Father, St. Francis, with the abundant grace of the humble and poor Christ.
