In May and June, Friar Joseph Wood continued his canonical visitations across the US. During his many encounters & engagements, friars were interviewed, a bishop was ordained, anniversaries were celebrated, & the CFF novitiate was prepared to welcome a new class of novices. It was such a blessing to have Fr. Joseph with us to celebrate Friar Victor ABEGG’s 50th anniversary of priestly ordination.
Canonical visitations are the check-and-balance of our common life, assuring the individual friar that the Order is looking after him, as the Minister General likes to state: “The Order is helping the Order.” Such visitations assure our overall community that religious life is still healthy and very much needed in our turbulent world, and that suggestions from the “grass roots” for improvement on the local and international levels are always appreciated and respected.
